Raymond Fogerlund - USA
Raymond Fogerlund Won Los Angeles Backgammon Open
01/07/2009Backgammon master (no. 24 on the Giants list) Raymond (Ray) Fogerlund has won ABT Los Angeles Backgammon Open, held on June 12-14, 2009 in Van Nuys, California. It is the second successive Los Angeles Open backgammon championship for the Los Angeles resident, who has been playing backgammon tournaments seriously ever since the 1970s.
Following his latest victory, Mr. Fogerlund, also known as Coolrey, tops the American Backgammon Tour top 50 players list for 2009 with 37.30 points, less than 2 points advantage over his closest rival, Stick Rice. Nevertheless, there are ten more tournaments left in the tour until the end of the year before we can tell if Raymond Fogerlund regained his 2007 Player of the Year title or settled for a second place as in 2008.
